This exotic looking plant is the Australian native Emu Bush, also known as Poverty Bush. It survives very dry and harsh climatic conditions and its leaves have traditionally been used by the Australian aboriginal people for washing sores and cuts and for gargling due to its natural antimicrobial properties. The Phenolic Acids found in this unique plant behave like alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs). Alpha-hydroxy acids are often used in cleansing and exfoliating skin care products to help increase cell turnover by removing the "glue" in the upper layer of the skin that holds old and dead skin cells together. Certified organic Emu Bush Leaf Extract has been included in the Karinda Purifying Cleanser to gently remove dead skin and impurities leaving your skin feeling amazingly refreshed, clean and revitalised!
It is a common myth that the foam in cleansers and shampoos is what cleans our skin and hair. The foaming agents in these types of products are actually just that – foaming agents. It is the active ingredients in cleansers that clean and purify your skin. Foaming agents are typically drying for the skin and can strip its natural oils. They are also very cheap ingredients while active ingredients can be very expensive. Don’t be fooled into thinking the more a cleanser foams the cleaner your skin will be!The Karinda Purifying Cleanser is a perfect mix of organic oils, organic water based active botanical extracts and detoxifying sea salt extract. The lightweight, milky cleanser has been mildly fragranced with natural essential oils of Neroli and Geranium and is suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin. Great for acne sufferers too!

We travel across to the other side of Australia in search of the heralded - wild harvested Kakadu Plum, which is a key ingredient in the Karinda Skin Care range.
We are thrilled to announce that our Nourishing Moisturiser has been Highly Commended in the Nature & Health Natural Beauty Awards 2016!
Check out the December-January 2016 edition of Nature & Health Magazine to see our Nourishing Moisturiser described as "luxurious yet lightweight, with antioxidant rich Kakadu Plum".
Not only is this gorgeous moisturiser packed with powerful antioxidant rich native Australian extracts it also includes a biologically active peptide that stimulates the skin's own defence mechanisms against oxidative stress.
You may not have heard that the Kakadu Plum is the richest known natural source of vitamin C on the planet! In fact it has up to 100 times the vitamin C content found in an orange. Pretty amazing! This little green plum, also known as Gubinge and Madoor, grows on trees that are native to the northern parts of Australia where the climatic conditions are harsh. The Kakadu Plum trees have adapted over millions of years to store large amounts of phyto-compounds needed to survive extreme and unpredictable conditions including heat, drought, floods, high winds and UV exposure.
For centuries the Kakadu Plum has been used by Aboriginal people for food and for traditional medicine due to its natural healing properties. The fruit is wild harvested by Indigenous communities of the Kimberley region, Northern Territory and Arnhem Land.
Not only does the Kakadu Plum have superior antioxidant properties it also contains valuable phyto-chemicals such as gallic and ellagic acids. Gallic acid has antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties and also shows anti-inflammatory, anti-tumour, anti-mutagenic and anti-bronchodilatory activities. Ellagic acid has anti-carcinogenic effects against a wide range of carcinogens in many human tissues.
Our Kakadu Plum extract is obtained via innovative cellular extraction technology whereby the vital phyto-compounds of the fruit are maintained and not destroyed during the extraction process. The Kakadu Plum extract is a key ingredient in our product range.
